The Avacaster System has long had the ability to take PowerPoint PPT files and automatically convert them to the Flash SWF format. And, almost as long as we have been able to do this, people have been asking us for a tool that would do only that, separate from the powerful Avacaster System.
So, we’ve finally relented. And, even better, we decided to make it free. It’s our gift to you: FlashPoint, the PowerPoint-to-Flash converter.
Using FlashPoint is, like all of Avacast’s products, simple. After installation (it’s Windows only for now, sorry Mac users… of course, Macs can still use the version built into the Avacaster System), simply launch the FlashPoint application, which will present the follwing window:

To convert a file, simply drag a PowerPoint file into the text field. Or, click the Choose button to select the PPT file you’d like converted. You’ll see a standard file selection window appear:

After you select your file, click the Convert button in the center of the window. When FlashPoint has finished converting your file, the filename and path (same as original file) will be displayed in the lower SWF section of the window:

That’s it! Simple, easy, powerful; that’s always how we’ve done things at Avacast. Plus, free. That’s a new one for us.
Please note that, after installation, you now have a printer called “PDFCreator” that will let you print anything to a PDF file. Don’t waste your money on Adobe Acrobat! Unlike the version of FlashPoint that comes embedded in every Avacaster, this FlashPoint converter uses two open source projects, PDFCreator and SWFTools. If you already have one or both of these installed, uncheck them in the FlashPoint installer.
